History

The prototype for the car was the American military jeep Willis, which the "Defender" resembled both externally and technically. The first generation was produced for a sufficiently long period, from 1990 to 2016. Naturally, it underwent regular restyling, which improved its technical equipment, bringing it in line with modern requirements. Thus, in 2012, the car was equipped with a new diesel engine that met the Euro-5 standards. However, this factor did not allow it to stay in production for long. And in 2016, the company decided to stop production, releasing a limited series that externally resembled the first Land Rover Series 1.

New Life

In 2019, the automotive world received news of the legend's revival. The "Defender" returned to the assembly line, but in a completely updated form. Now, its basis was the platform from the Discovery, and the frame structure was abandoned. However, the car's off-road qualities were preserved – large clearance, four-wheel drive with differential lock and reduced gear, as well as the presence of air suspension. The design still used a lot of aluminum, but the doors and front fenders became steel. The car received a strengthened frame, which had reduced front and rear overhangs due to the shift of the axes. This allowed improving the off-road capabilities, and the spare wheel had to be moved to its "classic" place – the rear door.

Having transformed externally and internally, the Defender remained the same reliable "traveler" that now offers its passengers even more comfort. This is facilitated by numerous additional systems that provide not only efficient driving but also a high level of safety. In the "base" version, the car is equipped with a turbocharged two-liter "diesel" engine, which produces 200 horsepower. It works in pair with a modern automatic transmission, which is distinguished by its responsiveness and reliability.
