Tires on Holden Caprice (Холден)
The Holden Caprice was produced from 1990 to 2017 and largely relied on solutions from the Statesman model, but at the same time, it was positioned one step higher in the lineup, being positioned as a "representative" version. The key differences were its own chassis settings, improved trim materials, and an extended set of technologies.1st iteration
Appearing in the early 90s, the Caprice used the GM platform with a longitudinal engine layout and rear-wheel drive, but Holden seriously strengthened the body's force elements: the sills became stiffer, the front part received additional stamped sections, and the rear beam received new mounting points. All this was done not for sports, but for stability on not always even roads.
The engine range at the start included large V6 and V8 engines, with the blocks using aluminum cylinder head covers, improved cooling channels, and a different combustion chamber profile. Later engines from the Alloytec family and the famous 6.0-liter V8s were already closer to American LS-series engines in terms of applied solutions: electronic throttle, phase control system, redesigned exhaust manifolds for better traction "from below". The transmission in most produced examples is 4- and 5-speed GM automatics, which at the end of the model's life cycle were replaced with a 6-speed automatic with adaptive switching logic.
The salon was conceived as a space where the driver and passengers spend long hours without fatigue. Materials were chosen accordingly - soft polyurethane plastic, wood inserts, thick leather on seats with a good lateral profile. Noise insulation was improved compared to the regular Statesman: the layer of vibration-absorbing mats on the engine shield and doors was increased, and thickened glass was used. In wealthy trim levels, there were electric adjustments in all directions, multimedia with a large number of functions, climate control with separate circuits, and even a rear entertainment module.
Second iteration
From the mid-2000s, the car became noticeably more modern. The body was strengthened, the suspension was reconfigured: at the front, McPherson struts remained, but with stiff mounts, and at the rear, a "multi-link" suspension with aluminum levers was installed. This reduced the unsprung mass, made the car less prone to rollover, and added precision at high speed. New-generation stabilization systems, modernized brakes with increased discs, and a "smart" force distribution system appeared.
The salon offered panels with softer trim, an updated multimedia system, and on expensive versions, added seat ventilation and higher-quality acoustics. The upholstery materials maintained a high standard - dense leather, high-quality vinyl, aluminum or dark wood inserts.
Wheel disks were most often 17-19-inch alloy wheels, sometimes with two-color processing. On "long" versions for government and corporate clients, disks with an enhanced spoke profile were used, designed for prolonged loads. When selecting tires, it is worth considering the large size and weight of this car, as incorrectly chosen tire size can significantly worsen the smoothness of the ride, making this sedan excessively prone to rollover. Therefore, owners often choose the "Mosavtoshina" online store, where suitable tires and disks can be selected for each modification.
Advantages of selecting tires on our website for the Holden Caprice:
- the catalog includes tires for different generations of the model - from the first V6 versions to late long-base modifications, taking into account their weight, load index, and required sidewall stiffness;
- original and compatible 17-19-inch disks are available, corresponding to the standard parameters of offset and central hole diameter;
- the automatic selection system immediately offers options for a specific year and engine, which is important due to differences in suspension and brake mechanisms;
- specialists will advise which tires are best suited for highways, urban mode, or mixed routes.
