Second Generation

The next generation of the model appeared in 1989, following the debut of the original hatchback in Japan. The car was created on the M platform developed by General Motors, having more than a dozen copies under other brands, including the North American Geo and Pontiac. It was from them that this model received the characteristic red diffusers of the rear lights, which were not available for other versions with right-hand drive. In technical terms, the car differed in the presence of a large number of components from its predecessor, but in a modified version.

Third Generation

The car presented in 1994 had no connection with its predecessor, as it turned out to be a copy of the subcompact hatchback Opel Corsa of the second iteration. Both cars were produced at the same plant in Spain, differing only in badges and steering column arrangement. The engine range differed significantly, reduced to several power units. Most of the vehicles were produced with inline-four petrol engines with volumes of 1.2 and 1.4 liters. In addition to these, the lineup included a modification with a 1.6-liter 100-horsepower engine from the "charged" version of the Opel GSi, which was available only as a 3-door hatchback. But the rarest was the convertible with a soft top, which was initially exported from Spain, and then its production was organized at the local Holden Special Vehicles plant. Until 2001, 581 units were sold.

Fourth Generation

In the spring of 2001, the car of the fourth iteration debuted, like its predecessor, becoming a copy of the Opel Corsa, but already of the next generation with the index C. The lineup of versions included 3- and 5-door hatchbacks, primarily with a 1.4-liter 16-valve petrol engine. Later, a "charged" modification SRi with a 1.8-liter engine appeared in it, which became one of the most popular among Australian youth, who appreciated not only the power unit but also the sports suspension, traction control system, and the presence of a plastic body kit from the German Irmscher in the list of options.

Fifth Generation

In December 2005, the Australian brand introduced the car of the fifth generation, which was a copy of the Chevrolet Aveo, namely its South Korean version, known as the Daewoo Kalos. This decision was dictated solely by the appearance on the Australian market of the Hyundai Getz, which the Opel Corsa copy could not compete with. Unfortunately, this did not lead to an increase in sales, in addition to which the results of the crash test were superimposed, which turned out to be one of the worst in the history of ANCAP. Over the next three years, the Australian brand had to develop an updated version, which differed significantly from the Korean "original" in technical terms. The changes affected, first of all, the power "cage" of the body, which received a large number of elements from high-strength steel. The standard equipment included inflatable "curtains" in the doors, which allowed the car to score four "stars" in the ANCAP test instead of two in the previous version. The changes also affected the equipment, in which electric windows and rearview mirror drives appeared.

Sixth Generation

The car of the sixth iteration of 2011 again became a copy of the subcompact model from Chevrolet, but already of the next generation. The difference from the "original" was the engine range and equipment. The vast majority of produced units had a 1.6-liter petrol "four" of the Ecotec family from Opel under the hood. In the fall of 2016, a 5-door version RS with a 1.4-liter turbocharged EcoFlex engine with a power of 140 horsepower and a torque of 200 Nm, available from 1850 rpm, was added to the lineup.
