As usual, the history of Bentley began with one person who was passionate about cars and motorcycles from a young age. His name was Walter Owen Bentley. He is the one to whom the world is grateful for the emergence of premium-class sports cars with amazing design and interior. It all started in 1913, when the young engineer designed aluminum pistons and created two engines that stood out for their performance and lightness. Having earned a significant amount of money from their implementation, he opened his own car manufacturing business in Cricklewood. Already in 1919, the first Bentley 3-litre model was presented, which immediately captivated the public. Its "heart" was a 4-cylinder engine with a power of 65 horsepower. The serial production of the novelty began two years later. Notably, the cost was impressive at the time and only affluent people could afford it. However, they were offered a five-year warranty from the manufacturer, which confirmed the quality of the product. It was the focus on wealthy citizens that played a negative role in popularizing cars under the Bentley brand. To advertise and demonstrate the benefits, the management decided to participate in various races, where the cars showed their worth, thereby increasing demand. But even this did not save the situation. The result was the acquisition of the company by Rolls-Royce.

A New Stage of Development

Literally two years later, the next novelty, the Bentley 3.5-litre, was presented, which was a modification of the Rolls-Royce 20/25. It was under the leadership of Rolls-Royce that the company was able to gain momentum, releasing, among other things, the S2 model, which became famous for its 6.2-liter 8-cylinder engine. The assembly of the latter is done manually, and its capabilities are still relevant today.

Starting from 1965, the basis of the model range consisted of variations of Rolls-Royce cars. But this did not prevent the T model from gaining popularity, which became the fastest coupe at the time, accelerating to a speed of 273 km/h.

New Owner

In 1998, all rights to Rolls-Royce and, accordingly, Bentley were transferred to Volkswagen AG. Thanks to the investment of significant financial resources (500 million pounds sterling) in 1999, the Bentley Arnage Red Label was born, equipped with a 6.75-liter engine. And following it, the legend - Continental GT with twelve cylinders. In subsequent years, the company actively worked and regularly released new products, which allowed it to take strong positions in the global market.

Present Day

Today, only three models come off the assembly line, including:
