But they stopped doing that NB Used in v. rural areas of the Cheviots - easily passing "hard men" in their 4WDs. The only snowtyre I've found that does as well as the old Michelin XMS8 on a 2CV!

195/70 with spikes. Initially installed on Audi-100 - 1 season, then transferred to Nissan - 2 seasons. Increase fuel consumption by 1 liter in winter, slightly noisy, slightly slow to accelerate. They perform well on snow, but are not very predictable on ice. They tend to easily get stuck in small snow on the side of the road. It's easy to get used to them and understand how to drive with them. The highest rating for the price/quality ratio.

They are fitted on a Ford Mondeo 215/55-16. I bought them for 2850 per set. For their price, the tires are normal. In terms of noise, they are average. On asphalt, they are excellent. On ice and compacted snow, they are mediocre. One major drawback is that they don't like snow and tend to dig in easily. Otherwise, they are suitable for calm driving.
