At once, four plants of the French company Michelin, located in Bad Kreuznach, Bamberg, and Karlsruhe, received international certificates according to the ISO 50001 standard. This standard defines the requirements for energy management systems. For the specialists checking production from the certification body GUTcert, it was important that Michelin's plants strive to improve energy efficiency.

According to Dieter Freytag, Director of Michelin in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, all German plants that have undergone certification have managed to prove that the energy efficiency of production is constantly improving thanks to the modernization of production and the introduction of new technologies.

In particular, the Bad Kreuznach plant has been powered by a cogeneration unit for almost six years, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere by seven thousand tons annually. Other Michelin plants in Germany are also being improved in terms of energy efficiency.

The Karlsruhe plant, for example, produces most of its products using the method of electric vulcanization, which significantly saves electricity.

Michelin continues to improve not only the technologies for producing automotive tires but also works on qualitatively improving its products. In particular, great attention is paid to the production of tires with reduced rolling resistance. The latest "word of technology" in this regard is the Michelin Energy Saver+ tire.
