Sibur plant in India
21 november 2012
By the middle of 2014, the official opening of the new "Sibur" plant is planned. It will be built jointly with Reliance Industries Limited and will be located in India. Butyl rubber will be produced there.
The new enterprise will be named Reliance Sibur Elastomers Private Limited. At the same time, "Sibur" owns 25.1% of the shares, and Reliance Industries Limited owns 74.9%. In total, the companies will invest $450 million in the construction of the plant, which is expected to pay off all costs in the first year: the turnover is expected to be at the level of $700 million.
The companies have also divided responsibilities between themselves. Thus, "Sibur" will be responsible for the supply of equipment, technology implementation and personnel training, while RIL will focus entirely on the construction of the enterprise. To coordinate the progress of work related to the construction of the facility, a special office was created in Mumbai.
It is expected that the plant will produce around 100,000 tons of rubber per year, of which 3/4 will go to the domestic Indian market, and the rest will be exported to Asia.
