Pirelli extends contract with Formula 1

Pirelli will remain the exclusive tire supplier for Formula 1 until at least the end of 2028, as the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has exercised the option to extend the current contract with the tire manufacturer for one year, which was stipulated in the agreement concluded in 2023 for a three-year period from 2025 to 2027. Pirelli will continue to play the role of the sole tire supplier for both F1 and the Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy series, the latter of which features young female drivers.

Pirelli tires have been used in the first-ever F1 race in 1950, and since 2011, the company has been the exclusive tire supplier. In total, the partnership between Pirelli and the championship is one of the longest in world motorsport.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, noted that the championship has "incredible relationships" with Pirelli, as the company always focuses on mastering innovations, and added that he is "delighted to extend the collaboration for another year".

"We continue to update the technical regulations, and Pirelli's commitment to quality allows teams in all racing series where the company is involved to be confident that they will receive some of the best tires in the world," he added. "The contract extension is another fantastic example of cooperation with reliable partners whose experience helps us continue to evolve and increase the spectacle of the races".

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized that the extension of the agreement with Pirelli will provide the championship with the necessary stability. "Together, we continue to implement innovations and conduct exciting races," he said.

Last year, Pirelli held its 500th Grand Prix in F1, and Marco Tronchetti Provera, the company's Executive Vice Chairman, noted that the tire manufacturer has "successfully addressed complex technological challenges throughout our long participation in the championship".

"Pirelli is not just one of the suppliers, but a strategic partner that has been able to support the constant development of the series together with the Federation and the promoter," he said.  "For us, Formula 1 represents an ideal laboratory for testing the latest technical solutions, which subsequently allow us to improve the characteristics of our civilian tires".
