The Barum brand enters the Scandinavian market
The company Continental is launching its Barum brand in the Scandinavian markets, and the summer range will include both the Barum Bravuris 5HM model and the new Bravuris 6, both of which, according to the manufacturer, feature reduced rolling resistance, lower noise levels, and increased mileage.
"The fact that Barum is part of Continental guarantees a high level of quality," noted Per Linder, Product Manager at Continental's Northern Europe division. "Barum has been part of Continental since the early 1990s, and since then, we have been involved in the development of tires under this brand. Barum produces multifunctional and affordable tires that complement the premium products under the Continental brand well."
The Czech company Barum released its first tires in 1948 and joined Continental in 1992. It is noted that previously, residents of, for example, Norway and Sweden could import tires privately, but now they will be supplied officially.
The Barum Bravuris 6 tire is produced at the company's plant in the Czech Republic, where an asymmetric tread pattern was also developed, which, in combination with a new rubber compound, improved traction on wet surfaces, increased tire life, and reduced rolling resistance, contributing to fuel savings.
"Barum Bravuris 5HM and the new Bravuris 6 are tires with an excellent balance of characteristics and excellent driving qualities," Linder said. "The new product is particularly impressive with its low rolling resistance and high mileage, and both tires are a good option for drivers who value the price-quality ratio."
Both models are available in a wide range of sizes and are suitable for use on both gasoline-powered vehicles and electric cars. As the company notes, in the electric vehicle segment, the size range provides significant market coverage, and tires are available in sizes with a rim diameter of up to 21 inches.
"If you drive an electric vehicle, you need quiet and durable tires that also provide a long range," Linder noted. "All this you can get by buying Barum summer tires."
In 2025, Continental also plans to introduce new Barum tires for the northern winter in Scandinavia, and the non-studded Barum Polaris North 6 model has already passed certification.
"Of course, the fact that Barum is part of Continental, which has long-standing traditions of producing winter tires for the northern climate that win tests, is a guarantee of quality," Linder emphasized, adding that the new Barum winter tires will also "borrow" many technologies from Continental tires.
