Cooper opened a plant in Serbia

28 march 2012
The American company Cooper Tyre & Rubber Co, which specializes in the development and production of automobile tires, has launched production in Serbia, in Kruševac. The other day, an official ceremony was held, attended by the company's president, chairman and CEO Roy Armes, the president of the International Tire Department Hal Miller, the President of Serbia Boris Tadić, the Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojša Ćirić and other high-ranking officials.

The deal to purchase the tire factory was made on January 17 of this year. It was then that all the necessary documents were signed, which proclaimed the establishment of the subsidiary company Cooper Tire Serbian. At the ceremony, Hal Miller stated that the creation of a subsidiary in Serbia will be mutually beneficial for both parties: for the parent company, this is primarily an expansion of supplies (the products of this plant will be distributed in the European and Russian markets) and an improvement in global positions in the tire market (since Serbia is very conveniently located geographically); for the region, the resumption of the plant's activities will bring significant economic benefits, as well as significantly reduce the number of unemployed - since it is planned to increase the plant's staff to seven hundred people.

At the same time, the company plans to spend 51 million euros on the modernization of the plant and increase the production capacity of the enterprise to three million tires per year. Upon achieving certain goals, which, however, they preferred not to disclose, the government of the country will provide financial support in the amount of 10 million euros.
