Winter tire Toyo Open Country G-02 Plus is designed for use in SUVs and pickups. It represents a universal model, effective in a variety of road conditions, differing in increased traction and coupling properties, "passenger" handling, smooth ride and acoustic comfort.
The tread pattern is made in a directed symmetrical design, which is distinguished by the presence of a large number of small blocks. This noticeably increases traction and coupling properties on snow. It is worth noting the zigzag edges of the blocks, which additionally enhance this feature. In the central part, the elements partially overlap each other, forming a continuous arrow-shaped rib. This reduces rolling resistance and noise, increases directional stability and handling accuracy at high speeds. When maneuvering, these properties are fully preserved due to the presence of massive composite blocks on the edges and a trapezoidal profile of the shoulder zones of the tread. Among other important features of the pattern, it is worth noting the dense cutting of "three-dimensional" lamellas. Their pointed wavy edges provide excellent traction and braking intensity on icy surfaces, easily penetrating the water film formed under the tire when moving in such conditions.
The next important distinction is the profile of the tread, largely borrowed from commercial tires for trucks. Almost throughout the tread area, it is made practically flat. This gives the tire's contact patch with the road surface a shape close to square, while increasing it. In combination with the dense arrangement of tread elements, this achieves an even distribution of pressure on the tread, thanks to which the tire demonstrates simplicity and comfort in handling when maneuvering, directional stability at high speeds, reduced fuel consumption and noise, as well as a slower wear rate of the tread.
