Winter tire for passenger cars Nokian WR G3 is designed for use in regions with a truly cold climate, primarily Canada and Northern Europe. On any snow-covered and icy roads, it demonstrates stability in handling, efficiency in braking, along with acoustic comfort, smoothness of ride, and durability.
Optimized compound
The tire tread is made of a rubber mixture adapted for use in cold climate regions. It is characterized by its ability to retain elasticity at the lowest temperatures. Its composition is distinguished by the presence of a certain amount of cryogenic oil, a liquid with a boiling point of minus 150 degrees Celsius. Along with a high content of silicon dioxide and natural rubber, this provides the tread with the ability to retain elasticity in extreme frosts, while demonstrating excellent strength and resistance to mechanical stress. As a result, the tire demonstrates reliable traction on snow-covered and icy surfaces, as well as a long service life even when operated on roads with worn-out pavement.
Polished grooves
A significant feature of this tire is the design of the longitudinal and transverse grooves. The drainage elements, in addition to their increased size and trapezoidal profile expanding upwards, are distinguished by a polished surface of the walls. All these features provide the tread with the ability to intensely divert not only water but also its heavy mixture with snow and road slush from under the tire, ensuring reliable traction in the most unfavorable weather conditions.
Winter operation indicator
The central part of the tread has special notches, stylized as a snowflake pattern. They are used as an indicator showing the remaining depth of the tread pattern. Its wear and tear over time allows for an accurate determination of the need for tire replacement or its use exclusively on dry roads.
Silent Grooves technology
The model was one of the first to feature the Silent Grooves technology. The essence of the innovation lies in the use of special semi-spherical notches in the drainage grooves, arranged in a "checkerboard" pattern on their side walls. These elements, due to their shape, prevent the formation of vortices in the air flow, thereby reducing high-frequency noise. They contribute to a more intense heat dissipation from the internal components of the tire, reducing its heating, thereby preventing the formation of small cracks in the tread and reducing rolling resistance.
Key features of Nokian WR G3
- optimized compound with cryogenic oil in the composition remains elastic at extremely low temperatures, ensuring reliable handling on snow-covered and icy roads;
- polished drainage grooves enhance traction in unfavorable weather conditions, providing more intense diversion of water and its heavy mixture with snow from under the tire;
- Silent Grooves technology reduces high-frequency noise, lowers tire heating, reducing fuel consumption and preventing tread cracking.
