Introducing the summer light truck tire Nexen Roadian 541, designed for SUVs, the manufacturer noted the following strong features of the novelty - high resistance to aquaplaning and a long service life. The size range of this model is represented by only two types - 235/75 and 225/75. Both sizes are designed for wheels with a rim diameter of 16 inches, which somewhat limits their applicability.
Increased sidewall stiffness
In the development of this model, the company's specialists paid much attention to ensuring stability when cornering. This was achieved by applying a two-module design of the shoulder areas of the tread. I.e., this tread part consists of two rows of rectangular blocks with high resistance to dynamic deformation.
In addition, the increased stiffness of the shoulder areas of the Nexen Roadian 541 tread allowed optimizing the even distribution of external pressure across the contact patch. This not only improved handling characteristics, which became more reliable and predictable, but also increased the tread's resistance to uneven wear, thereby extending the life of the tire.
Excellent resistance to aquaplaning
By equipping the tread with four very wide drainage grooves, the Korean tire makers were able to significantly reduce the risk of aquaplaning even at high speeds. At the same time, the effectiveness of the drainage system was further increased due to the serpentine shape of the transverse grooves. This allowed increasing the water circulation speed.
Excellent traction and grip characteristics
The central part of the tread is occupied by three rows of four-sided blocks. These tread elements form a multitude of edges, which ensures high efficiency of acceleration and braking. In addition, the massive size of these blocks made it possible to significantly increase the contact patch area, due to which the tire demonstrates excellent traction in any conditions.
