The summer cargo tire Kumho PorTran KC53 is one of the novelties of the South Korean manufacturer and is designed specifically for light trucks. Original S-shaped tread pattern design
A characteristic feature of the tread pattern design of the Kumho PorTran KC53 tire is the presence of only four longitudinal ribs. This made it possible to make them very massive, thereby providing the tire with a number of significant advantages.
First of all, this is the uniform distribution of external pressure over the contact patch. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly increase the carrying capacity of the tire and at the same time reduce the likelihood of uneven wear development.
In addition, the massive dimensions of the tread ribs made it possible to maximize the contact patch area, and due to the high stiffness of the tread, give it a rectangular shape that does not change under the influence of acceleration forces. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent traction, as well as stable and reliable handling in any road conditions.
Z-shaped grooves
Another distinctive feature of this tire is the numerous Z-shaped grooves located on the surface of the blocks in the central part of the tread. Their main purpose is to provide a more dense fit of the blocks to the road surface. Due to this, it was possible to significantly increase the size of the contact patch, which improved all the main operational characteristics of the tire.
