The all-season Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV tire is designed for use in so-called "European" winter conditions. It is characterized by stable traction and reliability in handling on wet and snowy surfaces, even with significant wear, a long service life, a soft ride, and acoustic comfort.
Structurally, the tire is a namesake of the "passenger" model, differing from it only in reinforced sidewalls and a frame. This is due to the increased weight and high center of mass of SUV category vehicles. This feature significantly improves the tire's resistance to damage when used off-road.
The tread pattern was completely "borrowed" from the "passenger" model. Its key feature is the U-shaped form of the grooves and their direction against the movement. This allows them to be used to divert water and its mixture with snow from the contact patch by the rotation of the wheel, which significantly increases the intensity of the process and ensures reliable traction in adverse weather conditions. The large width of the grooves allows the tire to maintain its performance on unpaved surfaces.
Another feature is the 3D lamellas, exactly the same as those of classic winter tires. The "three-dimensional" profile of the slit walls allows them to remain open when in contact with the road surface, increasing the traction and braking force on wet surfaces and compacted snow.
Key features of Michelin CrossClimate 2 SUV
- reinforced sidewalls provide stability during maneuvering, reduce the risk of tire damage when used off-road;
- U-shaped grooves and their direction against the movement ensure reliable handling in adverse weather conditions;
- self-locking 3D lamellas improve traction properties on wet surfaces and snow.
