Summer tire for passenger cars Matador MP-47 Hectorra 3 appeared on the domestic market quite recently. However, almost immediately it became very popular, thanks to a moderate cost with very high operational characteristics. This is largely due to the use in its design of technologies provided by Continental AG. Currently, the Slovak manufacturer is one of the structural divisions of this tire giant. At the same time, it is worth noting the very wide applicability. The Slovak company offers this model in 50 sizes. Many of them have a speed index Y, which implies the use of modern technologies and materials in its design.
Reliable grip on wet road
When creating this model, special attention was paid to ensuring maximum safety on wet roads. It is at a very high level, thanks to several technical solutions. First of all, this is the design of the drainage system with four very voluminous longitudinal grooves located in the central part of the tread. It is into them that all the water removed from the contact patch enters. Then it is directed outward, including through many transverse drainage grooves. Many of them are directed against the direction of movement, having an curved shape and a variable cross-section, which has many times increased their throughput, and with it the tire's resistance to aquaplaning.
Short braking distance and refined handling
The asymmetric tread pattern of this tire contains a large number of individual elements. However, almost all of them are distinguished by a continuous design and massive sizes. The most striking examples of such features are the design of the central part of the tread. It contains three longitudinal ribs formed from very massive longitudinally arranged blocks. Their high resistance to dynamic deformation gives the tire exceptional stability when braking and accelerating, and also makes its reactions to the driver's actions extremely fast and accurate.
Stability in turns
The shoulder zones on both sides of the asymmetric tread differ from each other only in minor details. In both cases, the design is characterized by the presence of a large number of individual blocks arranged at a right angle to the direction of movement. It is on them that the main load falls when performing sharp maneuvers and turning. In such modes, the tire allows you to maintain full control over the trajectory of the vehicle's movement even at high speed, thanks to the large contact patch area, which is due to the above-mentioned features of the shoulder zone design.
