All-season tire Matador MP-72 Izzarda A/T 2, like its predecessor, is distinguished by its versatility in application. This model, designed for SUVs and crossovers, demonstrates good performance on both asphalt and off-road surfaces of any type.
Robust construction
Unlike most competitors, this tire has a truly robust and impact-resistant construction. Its carcass is made of double synthetic cord, which has increased its strength and carrying capacity, providing a low weight. Between the cord layers, there is a special rubber filler. It reduces the tire's heat during movement, which increases the service life of the tread and reduces rolling resistance. Additionally, the filler prevents damage to the cord, which also has a positive effect on the service life.
Directly under the tread is a breaker, which has also been reinforced with a 2-layer cord. However, unlike the carcass, it is entirely made of steel wire.
In addition, the developers have strengthened the tire's sidewalls. Their design also contains a steel cord, but a spiral winding technology was used. This has given the sidewalls high strength, lightness, and elasticity.
Optimized tread profile
One of the characteristic features of this tire is the very even distribution of external load across the contact patch. To a large extent, this is ensured by the optimized shape of the tread profile. It is elliptical and designed to provide the largest possible contact patch size under external load, with a shape close to square. The ultimate result of this solution was an improvement in a number of important operational properties - resistance to uneven tread wear, handling, and braking efficiency.
Protected sidewalls
In addition to using a steel cord, the sidewalls are protected from aggressive external influences by other technical solutions. One of them is the design of the shoulder areas. The blocks located in this part of the tread have a structural extension to the tire's sidewalls. Furthermore, there are several special protrusions located just below. They protect the sidewalls from punctures, cuts, and abrasive wear when operating the tire off-road.
Effective pattern on any surface
This model belongs to the All Terrain category, which means it has high performance regardless of road surface characteristics. Versatility is largely due to the design of the tread pattern. Its key feature is the increased number of individual blocks, which provides the contact patch with multiple differently directed gripping edges. At the same time, the developers managed to ensure low rolling resistance and decent acoustic comfort. They arranged the blocks in such a way that they form multiple S-shaped transverse rows, which reduce fuel consumption and noise level.
Main features of Matador MP-72 Izzarda A/T 2
- The reinforced construction of the carcass and sidewalls makes the tire robust and impact-resistant;
- Special protrusions on the sidewalls and shoulder area blocks extending to the sidewalls protect them from mechanical damage;
- The S-shaped tread pattern with an increased number of blocks provides the tire with excellent efficiency on any type of surface.
