Description Marshal KW31
The Marshal KW31 non-studded winter tire is a "clone" of one of Kumho's winter models. We are talking about the I'Zen KW31 tire, which has proven itself well even in our difficult conditions, which speaks to its exceptional characteristics. As for applicability, the Marshal KW31 is excellent for use on almost any modern passenger car with a wheel diameter of 14 to 17 inches.
Optimized rubber compound
Since this model was initially developed for use in harsh winter conditions, its rubber compound was created with the specifics of use at low temperatures on surfaces with a very low coefficient of friction in mind. To achieve this, a number of components, including silica, were included in its composition, which provided the tire with a significant portion of its traction properties on snow and ice, as well as increased resistance to abrasive wear.
Symmetrical directional tread pattern
When creating the Marshal KW31 tire, the company's specialists turned to global experience, which in most cases involves the use of a V-shaped tread pattern for winter models. In this case, a similar scheme for arranging tread elements was used. However, there was also room for a number of interesting solutions here. First and foremost, this is the structure of the central part, consisting of many massive blocks, the edges of which are located at a significant angle relative to the axis of rotation of the tire.
Between the two rows of blocks is a very rigid central rib, which gives the tire several very important qualities. Due to its excellent resistance to dynamic deformations, this tread element allows the tire to maintain excellent directional stability even on slippery roads when driving at high speeds. In addition, the presence of such a rigid element in the central part of the tread has made it possible to minimize the tire's reaction time to steering wheel control. As a result, the handling has become more precise and predictable.
Three-dimensional lamellas
Since this model is studded, to compensate for their absence, lamellas of two types were used - three-dimensional and zigzag-shaped. 3D lamellas are located in the blocks of the central part of the tread, "working" on straight sections of snowy and icy roads. By creating multiple additional edges of traction when in contact with the road surface, the three-dimensional lamellas provide not only excellent traction on snow and ice but also a shorter braking distance.
In the shoulder areas of the tread pattern, there are their zigzag-shaped counterparts. Their functions are somewhat different. In addition to providing additional traction edges, these lamellas, due to the increased rigidity of the shoulder blocks, provide the tire with improved directional stability when making sharp maneuvers or turning.
Key features of the Marshal KW31
- a symmetrical directional pattern developed by Kumho specialists provides uncompromising traction with any winter road;
- a central rib with very high stiffness gives the tire excellent directional stability, as well as fast and precise reactions to any steering wheel movement;
- high traction characteristics on snow, thanks to the arrangement of tread blocks in the central part;
- two types of lamellas provide the tire with additional traction on ice and stability during sharp maneuvers on any slippery surface;
- excellent drainage characteristics, thanks to the block structure of the tread pattern.
