The Kumho Wintercraft WP72 winter tire is designed for the most high-speed versions of passenger cars. Compared to the previous model with the KW27 index, it has significantly improved traction properties on asphalt, rolled and loose snow, as well as even quieter and smoother handling.
The tread pattern with an asymmetric arrangement of elements has a clearly defined division into two functional zones. The outer side with deformation-resistant elements increases stability at high speeds and traction during maneuvering. In turn, the inner part of the tread, which contains a large number of small blocks and long transverse edges, allows for intense acceleration and deceleration on any slippery surface.
The effectiveness of the tire on any surface with a low coefficient of friction is largely ensured by the thousands of sharp edges formed by the lamellas. The tire tread is literally dotted with these narrow slits. Their vertical walls have a "three-dimensional" profile, which fixes the blocks in a fixed position, ensuring stable traction properties and precision handling. Another important feature of the tread design is the increased width and inclination of the drainage grooves. This significantly improves resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning.
