Several Types of Lamellas
The Kumho CW51 tread is equipped with several types of lamellas. In the central part, they have a wavy shape. As a result, when they open, the mobility of the blocks in the transverse direction is limited, which reduces the likelihood of the tire slipping. The shoulder areas contain 3D lamellas. When they open, they not only form multiple additional transverse traction edges but also limit the mobility of the blocks in both transverse and longitudinal directions. In combination with the directionality of the lamellas, this significantly reduces the braking distance, especially on rolled snow and ice.
