The Kumho CW51 winter passenger tire is one of the new products from the well-known South Korean manufacturer in our country. However, unlike most of the new models presented by it, this tire is designed for light commercial vehicles, primarily minivans. Thanks to the use of the latest technologies and materials, it demonstrates excellent traction and handling on any winter roads.
Highly Efficient Kumho CW51 Tread Pattern
A significant part of the Kumho CW51's traction properties on winter roads is ensured by the high efficiency of the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern. Its design features a large number of small blocks evenly distributed across four longitudinal ribs. Due to this arrangement of tread elements, the tire has excellent directional stability in any road conditions.
Reinforced Shoulder Area Construction
Both shoulder areas contain multiple individual blocks. However, unlike the central part, they have much larger sizes and a rectangular shape with a transverse arrangement. During longitudinal acceleration, the shoulder blocks, due to the long edges created, improve traction properties and their stability, and in turns - stability. Additionally, their large size and rigid construction significantly optimize the distribution of external load, which, in turn, increases the carrying capacity and resistance to uneven wear.
Several Types of Lamellas
The Kumho CW51 tread is equipped with several types of lamellas. In the central part, they have a wavy shape. As a result, when they open, the mobility of the blocks in the transverse direction is limited, which reduces the likelihood of the tire slipping. The shoulder areas contain 3D lamellas. When they open, they not only form multiple additional transverse traction edges but also limit the mobility of the blocks in both transverse and longitudinal directions. In combination with the directionality of the lamellas, this significantly reduces the braking distance, especially on rolled snow and ice.
