The winter tire Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2 for passenger cars has come to replace a extremely successful tire, which had excellent efficiency. Nevertheless, the engineers of the North American concern were able to make it even better.
The tread pattern has a V-shaped arrangement of elements. But in its new iteration, the blocks have become smaller, which allowed them to be placed in a larger quantity, thereby increasing the number of edges of adhesion formed by them. This made it possible to improve the efficiency of the tread on snow. On ice, it also became better. Here, the studs from the previous model are used. However, their number has been increased to approximately 220 pieces, depending on the size. The technology of their fixation in the tread has changed significantly. In addition to a more rigid compound of the base layer, the shape of the stud base has changed.
Main features of Goodyear Ultragrip Arctic 2
- an increased number of blocks improves traction on snow;
- updated studs are better fixed in the tread, and their large number increases the efficiency of the tread on icy surfaces;
- notched edges of the blocks allow the tire to better grip the snow-covered surface.
