Tourador Ice Star TSW3 — studded winter tyre for passenger cars. Its symmetrical directional tread pattern is built around a central chain of arrow-shaped elements. Metal studs are installed in the central, intermediate, and shoulder zones of the tread.
From the central part to the shoulders, wide inclined grooves diverge, forming a pronounced V-shaped scheme. They are connected to transverse grooves between the blocks, so open paths for water, snowmash, and loose snow to be discharged from the contact patch appear in the pattern.
The central elements have jagged edges and are connected in a repeating arrow-shaped row. On either side of it, blocks with bidirectional edges are located. This geometry forms a large number of longitudinal, transverse, and diagonal working edges.
Almost every block is covered with frequent thin lamellas, predominantly oriented transversely to the direction of movement. They complement the large elements with a multitude of small edges for contact with snowy surfaces. The lamellas continue across the entire width of the tread, including the shoulder blocks.
The studs are placed with an offset relative to each other and are not collected in one straight line. The distribution covers the central, intermediate, and shoulder zones, so the contact points of the metal elements are not concentrated only in one strip of the tread. The large shoulder blocks are divided by open transverse grooves, exiting to the edges of the tread.
