A key feature of the General Tire Grabber AT3 tire is that it was developed with consideration for the preferences of North American buyers who own not only large SUVs but also pickups. At the same time, this model is distinguished by its versatility in application. The manufacturer refers it to the All Terrain category, and its marking contains the letter-and-sign combination M+S, i.e., the tire can be used, among other things, on winter roads.
TRACGEN
The tread pattern of this tire was created using the TRACGEN technology. The essence of this solution lies in providing maximum traction properties on coatings with any characteristics. Various tread elements are used as a means to achieve this goal, many of which, at first glance, are imperceptible and insignificant. One of them is special protrusions on the surface of drainage grooves. When in contact with the road surface with low bearing capacity, they provide additional traction with it. In turn, the open design of the shoulder areas further increases the passability, largely due to the ability of the tread to self-clean from dirt. The blocks located in this part of the tread perform the role of mud catchers.
DURAGEN
Being part of the new line of off-road models, this tire was also created using the DURAGEN technology. This is a set of solutions aimed at improving a number of important operational properties. In particular, it contains a reinforced frame, which consists of a 3-layer steel cord. This design element protects it from impact. On top of it is a breaker, which has also been strengthened, but without a significant increase in the weight of the tire. It is made of steel cord, the threads of which form wide strips. Such a "substrate" has high structural rigidity and resistance to deformations. Thanks to this, the distribution of external load on the contact patch becomes more even, which, in turn, has a positive effect on both traction and tire life. Also worth noting is another element of the DURAGEN technology, namely the rubber compound. Its composition is selected in such a way as to provide the tread with resistance to wear, punctures, and cuts.
CB Technology
The name of the CB technology is an abbreviation composed of the capital letters of the words Comfort Balance. This solution is aimed at increasing the level of comfort, both driving and acoustic. The essence of the technology lies in the optimized arrangement of tread blocks, their shapes, and sizes. The combination of all these parameters is selected in such a way as to provide the tire with reliable and predictable behavior in any conditions, as well as reduce the level of noise and vibration.
