General Tire has expanded its off-road Grabber line
General Tire (part of Continental) has added a new all-season model, the General Grabber AT3 Plus, to its All-Terrain tire lineup. This new model is designed to provide reliable traction in all weather conditions, both on and off the road, and is intended to meet the growing demand for SUV vehicles.
Compared to the Grabber AT3, the new model has improved traction on snow and wet asphalt, and the company claims that both the rubber compound and the functional tread pattern have been designed to increase tire durability, as well as improve handling and reduce rolling noise.
As emphasized by Matthias Bartz, Business Development Manager for General Tire in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), "our research and development team has achieved outstanding results in fine-tuning the Grabber AT3, improving all key parameters - without any compromises."
To achieve a balance between durability, traction, and comfort, a range of technologies specifically developed for off-road tires has been used. Thus, the TracGen technology improves traction on loose surfaces and steering precision on paved roads thanks to a tread pattern with large blocks and numerous traction edges, while the additional damping layer in the construction and optimized tread pattern (Comfort Balance technology) reduce vibrations and noise, increasing acoustic comfort. Additionally, the specially developed compound, according to the manufacturer, ensures balanced tire properties on both asphalt and off-road, and the tread compound has been improved to increase resistance to cuts and chips, which, in combination with the reinforced block structure and stone ejectors, increases tire durability during off-road use. The tires can also be used in snow, as indicated by the 3PMSF marking on the sidewalls.
The tires have been released in sizes with a rim diameter from 15 to 22 inches, and options with load indices D and E are available, designed, for example, for carrying heavy loads. In terms of EU labeling, the tires have received a C rating for wet grip and a B rating for noise, and a D rating for fuel efficiency in most sizes. The speed indices are up to V (allowing operation at 240 km/h).
