Description Continental ContiPremiumContact 5
The Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 tire is a summer model for use on passenger cars. This tire immediately impresses with its excellent operating characteristics, which reduce the braking distance on wet and dry roads, improve handling, reduce rolling resistance, and increase controllability. The tire shows excellent operating characteristics in its class: the braking distance is reduced by 15%, rolling resistance is reduced by 12%, handling is improved by 8%, and ride comfort is increased by 5%.
The engineers who developed the Continental CPC5 tire focused on the massive grooves in the shoulder area of the tread. This design, borrowed from high-speed sports tires, provides excellent traction, especially during various maneuvers and turns. Due to this design, the support surface increases, which is not subject to load in the shoulder area and stabilizes the tread. This allows the driver to confidently navigate turns, increasing safety when avoiding various obstacles.
The designers were able to reduce the braking distance thanks to special 3D grooves. The transverse grooves located on the tread blocks prevent the "rolling" of the blocks, so when braking, the area of the surface transmitting the force increases. For quick stops on any surface, the tread's ground hooks contain additional lamellas. Their principle of operation is similar to that of windshield wipers - they can be said to "break" the water film, reducing the braking distance when moving. The Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 tire handles aquaplaning well thanks to the so-called "aqua-lamellas". Thanks to them, water is instantly removed even when moving at high speed, while the stiffness of the tread is not lost, which is important for directional stability. To achieve minimal rolling resistance, the shoulder area and the edge of the tire's belt are specially designed to keep the carcass constantly stable. When designing the shoulder area, the developers took a different approach: the lateral zone became flexible, and the zone of the protrusion was reinforced. As a result, the rolling resistance decreased, and the accuracy of control increased.
