To reduce rolling resistance, the tire developers optimized the sidewalls and flanks - the rings that hold the tire to the rim. The deformation of the tread in the contact patch was reduced by the use of very thin lamellas, which are small cuts in the tread blocks. Their edges work like windshield wipers on wet roads, breaking up the water film during movement and reducing the braking distance. Additionally, the edges of the tire blocks maintain their stability and effectively transmit braking energy, while reducing rolling resistance.
