The all-season Barum Quartaris 5 tire is designed with consideration for the specific conditions of so-called "European winters". It is characterized by improved traction properties on wet and snowy surfaces, fuel efficiency, and acoustic comfort.
The tread pattern is distinguished by an original V-shaped design of drainage grooves with elongated curved edges. This solution reduces aquaplaning susceptibility, increases traction force on slippery surfaces, and decreases rolling resistance. On packed snow, these properties are preserved almost completely thanks to the multitude and multidirectionality of edges formed by both blocks and lamellas cut into them. The increased shoulder blocks improve stability during maneuvering and prevent uneven wear.
Key Features of Barum Quartaris 5
- the original V-shaped groove design improves resistance to aquaplaning and slush planing, traction force on slippery surfaces, and reduces rolling resistance;
- the numerous transverse edges of blocks and lamellas improve longitudinal traction on packed snow;
- the increased rigid shoulder blocks enhance stability and precision in handling during maneuvering, and prevent uneven wear.
