Description Michelin Bib Mousse
This product was introduced by the French manufacturer as early as 1984. It is a solidified butylene foam, the numerous cavities of which are filled with nitrogen. In essence, it is an alternative to a tube inserted inside a motorcycle tire.
What it is for
Initially, Bib Mousse was developed for sports competitions, namely rally-raids, with which the French manufacturer has been cooperating for several decades. This product provided the tire with the ability to perform its functions when receiving through mechanical damage.
Installation features
The installation of such products has a number of features due to the unusualness of their design. In essence, it is a tube that needs to be placed inside the tire, already installed on the wheel disk. Special tools lift its rim, and the resulting gap is pushed through by Bib Mousse. It is for this reason that its outer side has a very smooth surface, externally very similar to chocolate pudding. Because of this, buyers of such products often call them "mousse", without using the Bib prefix. It appeared thanks to the mascot of the French manufacturer - Bibendum.
Differences from pneumatic tubes
Due to the physicochemical properties of the materials of manufacture, Bib Mousse cannot provide the same pressure on the inner side of the tire as a regular pneumatic tube. For this reason, such products are better suited for tires that are operated mainly on hard surfaces. At the same time, due to their increased elasticity, they provide softness when driving even on large irregularities.
Main features of Michelin Bib Mousse tire
- designed for installation inside the tire instead of a tube;
- increased elasticity provides a soft ride;
- provides excellent tire reliability, especially on hard surfaces.
