UAZ "Hunter" is the continuation of the Soviet legend, which for a long time was the UAZ-469 (produced from 1962 to 2007). In terms of its design features, the Russian off-road vehicle does not differ from its "ancestor". Changes affected only the exterior and power units.

Start of production

Full-scale serial production of the updated model began in 2003. It became an alternative replacement for the UAZ-31512 ("Commander"), which by that time had already become morally and technically outdated. Technical features

Among the more significant innovations is the ZMZ-409 power unit, which is equipped with electronic control and distributed fuel injection. This engine was not as reliable as its predecessor, the UMP-421. However, modern environmental requirements dictated their conditions, and on most models, the new engine was installed. Nevertheless, at the initial stage of conveyor production, some cars were equipped with the old engine. In 2005, the company released the "Hunter" with a diesel engine. It should be noted that the car often had power units from third-party manufacturers installed, usually as part of special orders.

As for the transmission, a standard five-speed "mechanics" is installed in the basic configuration. Notably, in the updated version, starting from 2019, a non-domestic development was used, but an MPC from a Korean manufacturer. In addition, an automatic gearbox Aisin 30-40LE (A340) (a well-known Japanese brand) was installed on a limited edition, which was released on order. As we can see, the technical capabilities of the design make it possible to use a wide range of power equipment without making significant changes.

The car is equipped with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes with automatic clearance adjustment. The front suspension is dependent with shock absorbers and stabilizers of transverse stability. In the rear, it is represented by a spring structure.

Resumption of production

In 2014, the company announced that it was stopping the production of "Hunters" due to the moral obsolescence of the design. Moreover, the manufacturer produces a wide range of alternative models with more modern equipment. But a year later, production was resumed. Only now the vehicle was reclassified as a truck, which made it possible not to use airbags. In addition, adjustments were made to the engine, which became compliant with Euro-5. This factor allowed the manufacturer to freely distribute the car in the territories of various countries of the world.
