A Bit of History

The Daimler AG concern, which had long been the owner of the Maybach brand, decided in 2011 to liquidate it. The reason for this was the low popularity of Maybach cars due to fierce competition from Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce. Therefore, it was decided to suspend activity or sell the brand. Moreover, Aston Martin was very interested in acquiring it at the time. In fact, they even developed a plan to improve existing models, which could later compete. However, the purchase never took place, and in 2012, the last Maybach rolled off the assembly line, and the company ceased to exist.

Two years later, the brand got a second life within the framework of the new owner, the Mercedes concern. The revival was based on the use of the German 222 platform. Moreover, it was planned to develop even more luxurious cars that would surpass the S-class from Mercedes. As a result, a model appeared, equipped with several engine options, the S500 and S600. Its production was mastered at the company's plant in India.

In 2016, the company presented the Vision 6 model, which was equipped with an electric motor. During the same period, a new form factor of cars appeared, which had not been released before - a cabriolet. The car turned out to be quite interesting, especially since its circulation was only 300 copies. Equipped with a V12 with two turbines, the model demonstrated excellent acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

2017 marked the release of an SUV from the G series. The car, equipped with a G65 AMG engine, can accelerate to 100 km/h in just over 6 seconds. And this despite its weight of 3.3 tons.

Present Time

Now, under the brand, three models are produced, belonging to the S, GLS, and V-class. Notably, these cars are not rare in Russia, despite their limited production.
