The JAC A5 Plus was introduced in 2021. The car belonged to the compact fastback category, replacing two models in the Chinese conglomerate's lineup at once — the JAC A5 and the Sehol Yao, borrowing a significant number of features from them.Key differences
Shortly before the release of the car, the JAC concern published a new strategy for the further development of the line of passenger cars, some of which were planned to be discontinued. The fastback became one of the first results of its implementation, "borrowing" the exterior design from the initial versions of the Sehol Yao, with the exception of the headlights, which became matrix, consisting of 142 LEDs. A significant part of the cabin also repeated the interior of this model, being designed in a minimalist style with a vertical 10.4-inch tablet of the multimedia system and front seats styled like racing "buckets". In turn, the central tunnel was transferred unchanged from the predecessor with the A5 index. This was due, first of all, to the technical components, in particular, the transmission — a 6-speed manual gearbox and a variator, the control lever of which was located on the central tunnel. Under the hood was a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline "four" developing 150 hp and 210 Nm, also taken from the A5, from its versions with a "medium" level of equipment, as well as the chassis with an independent rear suspension with a clearance of 145 mm.
