In turn, the first prototypes were tested for reliability with test runs of approximately 1.2 million kilometers. The Hyundai Genesis was introduced in 2008 at the international auto show in the USA, the main market for this model. Seven years after successful sales, the management of the South Korean automaker expressed a desire to make Genesis a standalone brand. In 2016, the debut models of the new brand - the G80 and G90 - appeared in the USA, and in the fall of the same year, another model - the G70 - was introduced in South Korea.

The brand uses a letter-and-number designation for its models. Sedans use the letter G, while crossovers use the letter combination GV. When using an electric powertrain, it is preceded by the word "Electrified". Currently, the brand's product line consists of three sedans/wagons and three crossovers. Moreover, only crossovers are equipped with electric powertrains. Classic engines are represented by gasoline and diesel engines with a volume of 2 to 5 liters with high specific power, which provides Genesis vehicles with excellent dynamics.
