Tires on Genesis G80 (Генесис)

The Genesis G80 sedan has been in production since 2016. Initially, the car debuted as the second-generation sedan of the same name, but it was later renamed as part of the restructuring of the production line, with all cars in this segment being spun off into a separate brand.

First Generation

The car appeared as part of the update of the Hyundai Genesis DH series sedan, which debuted in 2013. In addition to the replacement of badges and logos, it featured different bumpers and lighting fixtures, as well as a massive radiator grille in the form of a large-mesh grid, along with a rear diffuser and twin exhaust pipes at the rear. In technical terms, the car was close to the G90 sedan, the flagship model of the brand. It borrowed the engine lineup from it, primarily the "atmospheric" engines - 3.3 and 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engines, as well as a 5-liter V8, developing from 282 to 426 horsepower. The exception was the Russian market, where this car was available with a 2-liter turbocharged "four" with a capacity of 197 or 245 horsepower at the start of sales. The use of the G90 platform resulted in the presence of rear-wheel drive in the base versions. More expensive trim levels offered an all-wheel drive system with a multi-disc clutch that connected the front wheels.

Second Generation

In 2020, the second-generation sedan debuted. Externally, the car differed in a completely redesigned style, largely borrowed from the GV80 crossover, which was presented shortly before the premiere of this model. A distinctive feature of the design was the double strips of headlights and rear lights, also present in the grilles on the front fenders. Another design feature was the silhouette with a sloping roofline towards the rear, which made the sedan in the side projection strongly resemble a fastback. In technical terms, the car also did not retain any connection with its predecessor, changing the platform. In addition to the modular architecture, it differed in a lower center of mass, as well as the widespread use of not only high-strength steel but also aluminum. This made it possible to lighten the power "cage" of the body, while increasing its stiffness on bending and torsion.

Additionally, the engine range was completely updated, losing the "atmospheric" engines. The initial versions are equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged "four" developing 304 horsepower and 422 Nm. In combination with the lightened body, this made it possible to reduce the weight of the sedan by 125 kg at once. An alternative option was a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with a turbocharger, but developing 380 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque. Both power units are distinguished by the use of a liquid intercooler and combined fuel injection. Additionally, the lineup includes a diesel engine - an in-line "four" with a turbocharger and an aluminum cylinder block with a volume of 2.2 liters, developing 210 horsepower and 441 Nm. All power units work in tandem with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear or all-wheel drive. Another difference in the more expensive versions is the use of an electronically controlled suspension that changes the stiffness of the shock absorbers depending on the data received from the front camera.

In terms of interior, the car turned out to be extremely similar to the GV80 crossover with characteristic horizontal lines, but without the lower tier of the central tunnel, which is due to the lower height of the salon. The most equipped versions offer multi-contour seats, 3-zone climate control, a panoramic roof, Lexicon acoustics with active noise cancellation, and up to 10 airbags. Depending on the configuration, the sedan's standard features include wheels with a mounting diameter from 18 to 20 inches. Such models can be easily found in the online store "Mosavtoshina".
