The Dacia Logan MCV is a small estate car that was produced from 2006 to 2020. The car was designed to be a practical continuation of the namesake sedan, oriented towards those who need an affordable, yet spacious family transport with a straightforward design and inexpensive maintenance.

First Generation

The car, which appeared in 2006, retained the general architecture of the sedan but received its own body with an extended rear and an enlarged luggage compartment area. Thanks to the extended rear overhang and the vertical "tail" with swing doors borrowed from Renault's commercial models, the trunk volume became one of the best in its class in terms of functionality. Even in a five-seat configuration, its volume easily exceeded 500 liters, and when the seats were folded, it transformed into an almost "van-like" compartment where you could load both bulky boxes and small garden equipment.

The suspension retained the "signature" layout: McPherson struts at the front and a semi-independent beam at the rear. This scheme provided a smooth ride and reliability even where the asphalt was more theoretical. According to reviews from professional publications, the design could be noisy on poor roads, but remained functional under significant loads.

The engine range included 1.4 and 1.6-liter gasoline units, as well as a 1.5 dCi diesel. The latter was particularly valued in the European market for its moderate consumption and acceptable traction. The injection technologies were quite modern for the mid-2000s: distributed injection for gasoline versions, economical turbo diesel with a Common Rail system. The transmissions for most versions were mechanical five-speed units, but in some countries, a "robot" with a single clutch was also offered.

The interior was typical, almost entirely taken from the Logan sedan: rigid panels, simple architecture, large buttons, and minimalism throughout. But at the same time, it was already possible to get ABS, two airbags, air conditioning, a radio with Bluetooth in later series, and electric windows - a classic set for a budget estate car in the mid-2000s.

The wheels in the standard versions were steel, 14-inch, but more practical reinforced options and rare 15-inch discs were already available, which improved stability on the highway. The coating of the discs was often praised for its resistance to corrosion - a bonus for those who often drive on winter road reagents.

Second Generation

In 2013, the second generation of the car appeared. Externally, it differed from its predecessor in the design of the body, which was made more aerodynamic, the power structure was updated, anti-corrosion protection was improved, and the salon became noticeably more modern. The swing rear doors disappeared - now a classic hatchback door was used, which opened upwards, but a large, almost square opening was retained.

Under the hood, new engines appeared: a 0.9 TCe turbocharged gasoline unit and updated versions of the 1.5 dCi diesel. The turbo engine was particularly praised for its combination of moderate consumption and lively response at low speeds, largely due to the mechanical gearbox with "city" settings. The electrical equipment became more reliable, the noise insulation of the engine shield and doors was improved, and the suspension was tuned softer to better withstand the broken roads of Eastern Europe and the CIS countries.

The salon received better build quality and more thoughtful ergonomics. Versions with the Media Nav multimedia system on a touchscreen, heated front seats, cruise control, parking sensors, and a speed limiter appeared - such options were previously rare in this segment. The wheel discs became lighter: 15-inch steel and 16-inch alloy, made of aluminum alloy with increased resistance to impact loads.
