The mid-size BYD Song crossover appeared in the lineup of the Chinese manufacturer in 2015. The model existed on the conveyor until 2019, after which it received a number of updates, including a power unit, and got a different name.

The model, which debuted in 2015, became the first compact crossover in the company's lineup. The car received a laconic design, which is largely similar to the analogues from European companies. This allowed the model to take strong positions in the global market.

As a power unit, 2 options of gasoline engine were offered. A 1.5-liter engine with 154 horsepower and 240 Nm was combined with a 6-position "automatic" or a 6-speed "mechanics". A 2-liter engine with 205 horsepower and 320 Nm was complemented by a 7-position robotic gearbox.

In 2017, the model underwent a restyling, which was carried out in the current corporate style Dragon Face. In addition to external changes, the car received an update of the exterior. Its equipment included a number of new systems that improved the level of safety. During the same period, a hybrid version was also released, based on the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. It was complemented by two electric motors that provided a range of up to 80 km on electric traction only. The total power of the system was 453 horsepower, and the torque was 740 Nm.

The crossover was produced until 2019, after which it was replaced by a more promising model, in the name of which the Pro prefix appeared. Despite this factor, the car managed to visit the markets of many countries, including the Russian sector.
