New tires for regional transport from Michelin
21 november 2012
French company Michelin has launched Michelin X AllRoads tires on the Russian market for regional transportation. These tires are designed specifically for the challenging Russian conditions, as noted in the company's press release.
Even before developing this tire, the company conducted an in-depth analysis of the needs experienced by Russian fleets and identified the moments that needed to be addressed when creating a new tire.
In particular, the company's specialists came to the conclusion that the share of regional transportation in Russia is very large. At the same time, trucks often have to move on complex roads, which, in addition to everything else, have a large number of turns, requiring a corresponding large number of accelerations and braking. As a result, tires quickly become unusable.
The problem with Russian roads is also that tires with good traction characteristics have a risk of not withstanding the complex road conditions, so drivers often have to move at an average speed or even below average.
All these factors were taken into account when developing the new tire. Michelin employees also visited Russian fleets and conducted tests. As a result, the company's engineers were tasked with creating tires that are maximally strong and resistant to cuts and tread chunking, and with maximum operational resources.
As a result, a new product emerged - Michelin X AllRoads. Before being launched for sale, the tire was tested. The tests revealed that compared to Michelin XZE2+ and Michelin XDE2+, the new development has a 15% increased mileage, better resists mechanical damage, and better overcomes various obstacles on the road due to the reinforced rim ring.
Michelin X AllRoads are designed for regional transportation and are available in sizes 315/80R22.5 and 295/80R22.5 for driving and steering axles.
