The Yokohama Ice Guard IG70 winter tire is one of the so-called "friction" tires, designed for use in regions with cold and wet climates. It is characterized by increased traction on snowy and icy roads, as well as comfort when driving at high speeds, fuel efficiency, and a long service life.

Quattro Pyramide Lamellas
One of the key innovations of this model is the Quattro Pyramide lamellas. In addition to the "three-dimensionality" of the vertical walls, these elements are distinguished by a special cutting technology, thanks to which the length of the edges formed by them increases as the tread wears out. This allows them to maintain their functionality almost throughout the entire life of the tire. This, in turn, consists in increasing the intensity of braking and acceleration on any slippery surface. When in contact with it, such cuts form sharpened saw-toothed edges that easily penetrate the water film, allowing the tire to maintain traction in such conditions.

Optimized Rubber Compound
Another important feature of the tire is the rubber compound. The composition includes a special gel that gives it the ability to absorb moisture, thereby drying the road surface in the contact zone, not allowing a continuous water film to form. This significantly increases the traction properties, especially on icy surfaces. Another feature of the compound is the use of a large amount of "silica" and special polymers, which provide high uniformity, due to which the tread practically does not lose its elasticity at low temperatures, ensuring the maximum functionality of all elements of its pattern. Also, there were no "brand" solutions that have proven themselves on the positive side in previous models. First of all, this is orange peel oil, which increases the strength of the rubber compound against rupture and stretching, preventing it from cracking as a result of aging, keeping the tread operational even after 4-5 years after manufacture.
