Description Yokohama Geolandar G98FV
The Yokohama Geolandar G98FV summer tire is installed on compact and mid-size crossovers. Belonging to the HT category, the model is adapted for operation on asphalt roads. The strengths of the tire include a long service life, fuel efficiency, low tendency to aquaplaning, and softness on the go.
The tread pattern is made in an asymmetric directional design, where large elements - ribs and blocks - prevail. In combination with the optimized profile of the tread part of the tread, this guarantees a large size of the contact area with the road surface. As a result, reliable traction is achieved on dry pavement. In rainy conditions, the tire does not lose contact with the asphalt due to the significant volume, numerousness, and multidirectionality of the drainage grooves.
Another important distinction of the tread is the combination of wide blocks in the shoulder areas and a central longitudinal rib. The significant resistance to deformation of these elements allows for very fast and accurate transmission of lateral acceleration forces from the tire to the steering wheel. This greatly simplifies the process of controlling the vehicle when maneuvering, and when driving straight at high speed, excellent directional stability is ensured.
The tread part of the tread is made from a rubber compound obtained using original components. One of them is oil from orange peel. It significantly increases the strength of the compound against rupture and stretching. As a result, the tire is much better resistant to both mechanical and thermal effects. In addition, the rubber compound contains a large amount of finely dispersed silica. This component allows the tire to fit much closer to the cold road surface, increasing traction in rainy conditions.
Main features of the Yokohama Geolandar G98FV
- Asymmetric tread pattern with large elements provides a large contact patch size;
- Optimized tread profile provides stable traction properties when maneuvering and reduces wear;
- Increased longitudinal grooves and a large number of transverse drainage elements allow the tire to effectively combat aquaplaning;
- Rubber compound with orange peel oil and increased silica content improves traction on wet pavement and resistance to abrasive wear.
