Another feature of the tread pattern is the asymmetrical arrangement of all tread elements, grouped into several separate zones, each of which is designed to perform a specific set of tasks. It is precisely this that allows the tire to demonstrate excellent traction on any winter surface.

Sophisticated Sipe Design

The Sophisticated Sipe Design technology is nothing more than lamellas. However, they are located at a very small distance from each other - only 0.6 millimeters. Thanks to this density, the number of these tread elements is counted in thousands. The number of traction edges available to the contact patch has also increased by about the same amount. This was more than enough to compensate for the lack of studs on this tire, which will certainly be useful when driving on ice.

Another feature of the Sophisticated Sipe Design technology is the zigzag shape of the lamellas. This was done in order to increase the stiffness of the tread elements when they come into contact with the road surface. At this moment, the walls of the lamellas, due to their zigzag shape, are tightly fixed to each other, thereby not allowing the tread block to "wander" under the influence of external pressure. As a result of the increased stiffness, the tire has become much better at withstanding dynamic deformations that occur during movement. In addition, the depth of the lamellas in the shoulder zones of the Vredestein Wintrac Nextreme SUV was made less than that of similar tread elements in the central part of the tread, which made it possible to provide the tire with excellent stability when cornering.

It is also impossible not to note the direction of the lamellas. They are arranged in different directions, which made it possible to make the traction with the road even more reliable.

Uniform distribution of load across the contact patch

When developing this model, the Dutch tire manufacturer paid considerable attention to ensuring a uniform distribution of external pressure across the contact patch. After all, they perfectly understood the importance of this factor, which affects not only wear but also handling. To achieve these goals, they applied several technical solutions at once. First of all, this is the tire profile, which was made as flat as possible. Due to this, the contact patch acquired a shape close to rectangular, which contributes to both optimal load distribution and stable behavior on the road.

Directly under the tread, a reinforced breaker with two nylon layers appeared. This made it possible to increase the stiffness of the carcass, improve resistance to punctures and cuts.
