V-shaped architecture

The first thing you notice when inspecting the tyre is the pronounced directional design with a V-shaped drainage groove layout. The tread bites into the snowy "virgin land", instantly compacting the snow in the grooves and using it as an additional grip element. At the same time, the wide longitudinal-transverse channels rapidly expel snowy-water slush from the contact patch, keeping it clean. From the point of view of rolling resistance, the V-shaped scheme provides a uniform distribution of pressure across the contact patch, which made it possible to avoid extra energy losses.

Lamellar array

The engineering "highlight" is the density of the lamellae, and their geometry is far from monotonous. The lamellae are cut at different angles and have a saw-toothed profile of the walls. In the contact patch, each of them opens up, creating hundreds of sharply sharpened edges that work simultaneously at the micro level. On ice, the edges scratch the smooth surface, multiplying the friction many times, on rolled snow they penetrate the structure of the cover and cling to the smallest irregularities. At the same time, the neighbouring lamellae do not allow the blocks to deform excessively in the transverse direction. The result is traction and braking on slippery surfaces.
Additionally, the tyre is equipped with a stud system that allows you to feel confident on icy surfaces, neutralizing skidding. Here, a modern system of mounting metal elements is used, which excludes their pulling out even on a tyre that has not been run-in.

Rubber compound that doesn't know hardness

The recipe for the compound is based on mixture polymers with a wide temperature range of glass transition and high-dispersion silica. Special plasticizers maintain flexibility in frost, allowing the tread blocks to closely fit the micro-irregularities of the ice. At the same time, the enhanced system of transverse bonds in the compound counteracts abrasive wear, tears, and the formation of microcracks.
