New studded tires Tunga have entered the market
The fact that a new winter studded tire is being prepared for release under the domestic brand Tunga has been known for several years, and now the budget model Tunga Nordway 3 is finally entering the market, where the number of its competitors in the form of cheap products from China has significantly increased over this time.
Nordway 3 received the tread design from the Cordiant Snow Cross tire, which was a novelty of the 2013-2014 winter season, and the aggressive pattern includes a central arrow-shaped rib designed to push snow into deep channels that open up in the shoulder areas. At the same time, the remaining snow in the contact patch enters special cavities, which improves handling on snowy roads, while numerous Z-shaped lamellas form edges of grip arranged at different angles, increasing the level of safety when driving on ice.
Since the central rib has a continuous design, the directional stability and informativeness are improved, and the anti-skid studs, which form 16 rows, are arranged asymmetrically, thanks to which there are always at least 10 studs in the contact zone with the road, which increases the reliability of traction and reduces the likelihood of skidding.
Cordiant Snow Cross showed good results in the "Behind the Wheel" test, outperforming competitors from such brands as Dunlop and Toyo, and received a rating of "Very Good", including for balanced driving qualities. At the same time, the Finns from Test World noted that the tires have poor ice traction and lateral stability on snow, but good directional stability on rough asphalt and low noise level.
After the premiere of Snow Cross, many network users noticed the similarity with Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7, and this was also noticed in the Finnish concern itself, which even sued "Cordiant", accusing the company of plagiarism, but was unable to prove its case.
Tunga Nordway 3 have been certified in sizes with a diameter from 13 to 18 inches, while the second-generation tires - Tunga Nordway 2, which were released in 2018 - are available in sizes only up to 16 inches, which means that the new product can be installed on a larger number of cars.
