In developing this model, the company's specialists paid special attention to ensuring the lowest possible fuel consumption rates without compromising other equally important operational characteristics. To achieve this ambitious and technically complex goal, they took a number of measures that affected almost all the main components of the tire.
Steel breaker layer
One of the innovations of the Silverstone Synergy M5 was the breaker layer, which, like the cord, was made from steel wire. This made it very rigid and, at the same time, highly resistant to dynamic deformation that occurs during movement. The same capabilities also appeared in the tread layer, as a result of which it acquired much lower rolling resistance.
Optimized sidewall profile
In addition, also with the aim of increasing resistance to dynamic deformation, the specialists of the Malaysian company significantly strengthened the sidewalls of the tire, making them more rigid over a significant distance from the wheel rim.
Special rubber compound
The distinctive feature of the rubber compound used in this tire is the presence of special components in its composition, which significantly reduced hysteresis losses. This made it possible to substantially reduce rolling resistance, bringing fuel efficiency ratings to their maximum values.
