Description Росава WQ-102
The Rosava WQ-102 winter passenger tire is one of the novelties of this leading Ukrainian manufacturer. This model was specially designed for the harsh climatic conditions of Northern Europe and Russia. At the same time, the tire is rigidly oriented towards use on compact class passenger cars, as evidenced by the not very wide range of sizes, starting from 175/70R13 and ending with 205/70R15. However, the tire has excellent technical characteristics for its price category and a high level of safety, as it has been assigned a speed index of S (up to 180 km/h).
Tread pattern design
For their new product, Ukrainian tire manufacturers preferred a time-tested and widely used by other manufacturers tread with a V-shaped symmetrical directional pattern, consisting of five longitudinal ribs. As is typical for modern winter tires, the center of the tread features a longitudinal rib with a continuous, uninterrupted structure along its entire length. Thanks to this solution, the tire retains excellent directional stability and resistance to lateral skidding, especially when driving on snowy and icy surfaces.
The two longitudinal ribs located in the central part of the tread also feature rows of individual arrow-shaped blocks. This allowed for excellent acceleration efficiency on various types of surfaces.
The design of the shoulder areas of the tread is also noteworthy, which are also two additional rows of individual blocks. Unlike the tread blocks located in the central part of the tread, the blocks in the shoulder areas are arranged almost at a right angle to the direction of movement, which significantly improved the braking efficiency on slippery surfaces.
Another distinctive feature of the Rosava WQ-102 tire is the small radius of the shoulder area profile. Thanks to this technical solution, it was possible to significantly increase the contact patch area, which in turn led to an improvement in the tire's main operating characteristics. Additionally, the small radius of the shoulder area profile allowed for a rectangular contact patch shape with optimal pressure distribution, ensuring more even tread wear and, consequently, a longer service life for the tire.
Safety on icy roads
This model demonstrates excellent traction on slippery surfaces, which was achieved through the application of a whole range of solutions. In particular, the tire's tread was equipped with numerous extended lamellas, forming a large number of additional sharp edges when in contact with the road surface.
Another factor that determined the safety of movement on ice is the presence of 90 to 108 steel studs (depending on the size type). At the same time, their optimized arrangement in combination with the optimally selected stud protrusion height (0.9 mm) provides reliable and stable traction on icy surfaces with a very low noise level.
The next component that gave the Rosava WQ102 tire excellent characteristics on ice is the new rubber compound. Its composition includes highly dispersed technical carbon, silica filler, and special rubber, the elasticity of which remains at its initial level throughout the tire's service life.
This model is one of the few winter tires equipped with a three-layer tread. At the same time, all three layers are made from a rubber compound with different elasticity parameters. As a result, it was possible to obtain a tire with excellent elasticity over a very wide temperature range.
Key features of the Rosava WQ-102 tire
- Reliable and stable behavior even in the most adverse road conditions is ensured by the V-shaped symmetrical directional tread pattern;
- The rubber compound features the presence of silica and highly dispersed technical carbon in its composition, which improved traction on various types of surfaces and increased the tread's resistance to wear;
- The continuous central rib allows the tire to maintain excellent directional stability on snowy and icy surfaces;
- The arrow-shaped blocks in the central part of the tread, thanks to the numerous sharp edges, improved the acceleration efficiency on slippery surfaces;
- The massive blocks in the shoulder area of the tread provide the tire with good passability in deep snow, and their transverse arrangement relative to the direction of movement increased the braking efficiency;
- The carefully calculated arrangement of the studs made it possible to achieve an ideal balance between traction and noise level on ice;
- Special shock absorbers under the stud base smooth out its contact with the road surface, increasing the stud's durability and reducing the noise level generated by it.
