The Pirelli Winter Sottozero III winter tire is designed for premium-class passenger cars. This model is characterized by excellent traction and handling on any slippery surface. The development of the tire involved engineers from the world's leading automakers, and some sizes have official homologation from them.
The tread pattern features 3D lamellae. Their walls have a three-dimensional shape that limits the mobility of the blocks in which such incisions are made. This solution improves handling on dry pavement, and due to the formation of lamellae in the contact patch of thousands of sharp edges, it reduces the braking distance, especially on rolled snow and icy surfaces.
Longitudinal drainage grooves have been increased. The large volume of these elements significantly reduces the risk of aquaplaning and slushplaning, improving handling and braking efficiency on wet and snowy roads.
The central part of the asymmetric tread pattern features a row of wide, arrow-shaped blocks. The V-shaped transverse edges formed by them allow for intense acceleration and deceleration on snow, as well as maintaining directional stability on such surfaces even at high speeds.
The tread pattern is made from a rubber compound that retains its properties over a very wide temperature range, including extremely low temperatures. Even in such conditions, the tread remains elastic, providing good traction on the most challenging winter roads.
