The summer passenger tire Nokian zLine was specifically designed for Central European countries and is intended, first and foremost, for very powerful and high-speed passenger cars. This model is produced in 31 sizes with fitment sizes ranging from 16 to 21 inches. The speed indices W and Y assigned to this tire are indirect confirmation of its belonging to the Ultra High Performance category.
The tread pattern of this model was completely borrowed from another new tire of the Finnish manufacturer, namely Hakka Black. The only significant difference is the use of the Nokian Intelligent Silica rubber compound in this tire.
For this tire, Finnish specialists preferred to use a tread with an asymmetric directional pattern, which demonstrates exceptional efficiency when driving in both dry and rainy conditions.
One of the distinctive features of the new Nokian zLine is its excellent resistance to aquaplaning, which was made possible thanks to significant improvements made to the drainage system design. The main burden of combating this negative phenomenon is borne by four wide longitudinal grooves, the surface of which was polished to increase the water drainage rate. The walls of the transverse grooves located in the shoulder area on the inside of the tread are equipped with special elliptical depressions called Swoop Grooves. Thanks to these depressions, the volume of the transverse grooves has increased significantly, which has increased their throughput, and therefore resistance to aquaplaning.
In addition to reliable behavior in rainy conditions, the company's specialists paid considerable attention to reducing the noise level. In particular, the walls of all four longitudinal grooves have semicircular depressions called Silent Groove, which, by directing the airflow, reduce the level of unpleasant noise.
The main features of the Nokian zLine model
- An optimized for high-speed driving asymmetric directional tread pattern design, thanks to which the tire demonstrates excellent traction in any conditions;
- A reinforced shoulder area design ensures the stability of the contact patch size, regardless of changes in the characteristics of the road surface;
- Four polished longitudinal grooves, which made it possible to achieve excellent resistance to aquaplaning;
- Special elliptical slots in the longitudinal drainage grooves have significantly increased their throughput;
- Original semicircular depressions on the walls of the longitudinal drainage grooves optimally direct the airflow, which made it possible to reduce the noise level.
