The development of the Nexen Winguard Snow G WH2 winter tire was carried out in Europe by local specialists. This is due to the scope of application of this model. It is designed for operation in the specific conditions of the so-called "soft" winter. In Russia, such tires can only be used in the southern regions.
One of the characteristic features that distinguishes this tire from the previous model is the increased number of lamellas. As before, they are made in a three-dimensional design, but at the same time, the walls of these tread elements are fixed much tighter, which, in turn, increases the stiffness of the blocks. Thanks to the increase in the number of lamellas, the traction properties on slippery coatings, first of all, on snow and ice, are improved.
Additional traction on snow-covered and icy roads is provided by the special shape of the blocks. Their cross-arranged faces have a zigzag shape. This allows the blocks to literally grip into the rolled snow, giving movement on such coatings even more reliability.
Some tread elements are multifunctional. In particular, the central part contains intersecting grooves. They not only perform water drainage but also allow the tread to better grip wet asphalt or rolled snow.
Main features of Nexen Winguard Snow G WH2 tires
- increased density of lamella placement improves traction on rolled snow;
- zigzag shape of block edges improves tire performance on slippery roads;
- intersecting drainage grooves in the center of the tread improve traction on snow and wet asphalt;
- V-shaped arrangement of drainage grooves and their direction against the direction of movement allows the tire to effectively counteract aquaplaning and slash-planning.
