The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R summer tire is designed for installation on vehicles belonging to the sports class. The model is characterized by high precision handling in combination with maneuverability.
Released in the fall of 2018, the model became a continuation of the Pilot Sport Cup 2 series. Notably, the tires in the series can be used as both equipment for racing cars and transport used on public roads.
Tread Structure
The model features Bi-Compound technology, which implies different tasks for the internal and external parts of the tread. The lateral zones are made using elastomers that allow for improved traction, especially when performing maneuvers.
The internal part is represented by a more rigid structure, which provides clarity of response to the steering wheel actions.
Note that the model has a 10% reduction in the area of the water-repellent channels, which has increased the grip with the road surface. This had a positive effect on the acceleration and braking characteristics on dry roads.
The tire's breaker, which includes aramid fibers, prevents the compound from stretching, ensuring stable contact, including during high-speed driving.
Velvet Effect
The sidewall of the tire has a contrasting color, which was achieved through the use of a special Velvet Technology.
Constant Contact Zone
The company's own development, Variable Contact Patch, allows the contact patch to adapt to a specific speed while maintaining the size of the contact zone with the road at the same level. This keeps the traction characteristics unchanged, positively affecting vehicle handling.
