Winter tire for passenger cars Ikon Character Ice 8 is a renamed version of Nordman 8. It is distinguished by improved traction and reliability of handling on snowy and icy surfaces, comfortable, quiet and smooth ride.
The tread pattern is made in a characteristic design for this brand with a distinctive arrow-like rib in the center. The difference from previous variations is an increased number of "branches" and adjacent blocks in the shoulder areas. This solution has positively affected the traction properties on snowy surfaces. Another feature is the presence of a large number of "three-dimensional" lamellae with zigzag edges. Along with the studs, they increase the stability of traction on icy surfaces, ensuring reliability of handling in such conditions. The studs are distinguished by a 6-sided tungsten carbide insert, which is oriented with its longest side perpendicular to the direction of movement, thanks to which the tire demonstrates high intensity of both acceleration and deceleration on ice.
The next important feature of the tire is the design of its shoulder areas. The blocks located here are enlarged, forming elongated transverse edges. In combination with their zigzag shape, this noticeably increases the longitudinal traction on snow. The massiveness of these elements in combination with a trapezoidal profile increases the accuracy of handling and directional stability, which significantly simplifies control over the vehicle on slippery surfaces. It is worth noting the presence of additional reinforcing strips of cord under this part of the tread, which give the blocks located here additional stability, which also has a positive effect on handling.
