Description Doublestar DW02 235/55 R19 101W

The Doublestar DW02 winter tire features a design adapted for use in areas with a cold continental climate. The tire is characterized by high efficiency on low-traction surfaces, demonstrating reliability and reliability on poor roads.

The tread pattern is designed in an asymmetric design. Its characteristic feature is the reduced size of the blocks, which has increased their number and, accordingly, the number of long and high edges. As a result, excellent traction efficiency is achieved on snowy surfaces. On slippery and hard surfaces, the performance of the tread is ensured by numerous lamellas. These miniature wave-shaped elements form a total of several thousand sharp multidirectional edges. Their effectiveness is enhanced by the elasticity of the tread. It is made from a rubber mixture, the composition of which is more than half represented by silicon dioxide. This component increases the elasticity of the tread at negative temperatures, while ensuring its strength and durability.

Key features of Doublestar DW02

- asymmetric tread with small blocks in the central part provides high efficiency on snow;
- wide shoulder blocks with grooves on the sidewalls enhance passability and simplify exiting the rut;
- wave-shaped lamellas provide stability on hard surfaces with a low coefficient of friction;
- the tread is made from a rubber mixture that remains elastic at extremely low temperatures.

Technologies

Asymmetric tread pattern

Asymmetric tread pattern improves cornering stability and prevents wear on the outer part.

Professional winter compound

The application of an ultra-low temperature compound helps to ensure tire softness and driving safety even at temperatures as low as -70°C

Three-dimensional tread pattern

The 3D tread pattern design allows for a reduction in deformation by 8% and improved traction

Enjoy a quiet ride

Enjoy quiet driving for a more comfortable ride. The special edge design with a chamfer allows for effective reduction of driving noise

Doublestar DW02: budget winter tire for city use with snow and moderate speeds

The model appeals to drivers seeking affordable winter tires for urban use with frequent snowfall. The main advantage is the soft rubber compound and good snow traction at a reasonable price, but compromises are required on ice and at highway speeds above 100 km/h.

Who is it suitable for: This tyre performs well in urban conditions at moderate speeds up to 80–90 km/h, where the soft rubber compound ensures comfort even at -15...-28°C. SUV owners with all-wheel drive report confident handling in slush and when exiting ruts. The asymmetric tread with small blocks provides good snow traction, confirmed by its snow handling rating of 4.11/5. For regions where snow is frequent but black ice is rare, this is a sensible budget choice. The soft compound helps maintain flexibility in freezing temperatures, which is essential for winter performance. Owners of the Santa Fe, Sorento, Creta, and similar crossovers often consider it optimal for daily city driving. With a smooth driving style and all-wheel drive, the vehicle's stability system compensates for its weaker performance on ice.

Who should consider an alternative: It's better to choose another class if you regularly drive on highways at speeds above 100 km/h — a noticeable hum appears after 80 km/h, and directional stability decreases. In regions with frequent black ice and icy inclines, consider studded alternatives, as the ice handling rating of 3.55/5 is the lowest in the lineup. Aggressive driving with sharp lane changes is also unsuitable for this model — there are complaints about 'wandering' in ruts. Rear-wheel-drive vehicles without ESP will require stickier tires in winter conditions. If premium quietness and high-speed stability are critical to you, it's more reasonable to look toward the mid-range class.

Main reason for choice: The main reason to buy is the price-to-performance ratio for city use: you get a soft winter tyre with good snow traction without paying a premium for the brand. The practical benefit is that its capabilities are more than sufficient for daily city driving and moderate highway stretches. It's a sensible compromise—accepting higher road noise and exercising extra caution on ice, especially with rear-wheel drive. Keep expectations within the bounds of the budget segment: this isn't premium, but neither is it an outright weak tyre. Before installation, it's recommended to check wheel geometry at a tyre fitting shop, as there have been isolated complaints about wheel balancing. For a cautious driver with all-wheel drive in a snowy region, this is a justified choice.
